Surah Nuh Ayat 21-22-23 Translation Tafseer

Para 29 - تَبٰرَكَ الَّذِیْ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

71.21-22-23

قَالَ نُوْحٌ رَّبِّ اِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِیْ وَ اتَّبَعُوْا مَنْ لَّمْ یَزِدْهُ مَالُهٗ وَ وَلَدُهٗۤ اِلَّا خَسَارًاۚ (21) وَ مَكَرُوْا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًاۚ (22) وَ قَالُوْا لَا تَذَرُنَّ اٰلِهَتَكُمْ وَ لَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَّ لَا سُوَاعًا ﳔ وَّ لَا یَغُوْثَ وَ یَعُوْقَ وَ نَسْرًاۚ (23)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

Nūḥ said, “O my Lord! Indeed they have disobeyed me and they followed one whose wealth and children only increased his loss.”[1] And they plotted a terrible plot. And they said, “Do not abandon yourgods, especially Wadd, Suwāʿ, Yaghūs, Yaʿūq, and Nasr.[1]

Commentary

An abundance of wealth or children is not a sign of salvation. Frequently, these matters become a source of misguidance and loss in the Hereafter. Therefore, a Muslim should not be impressed by the disbelievers’ wealth and luxuries. Similarly, a Muslim should not become neglectful of worshipping Allah Almighty and His remembrance due to his wealth and children. A Muslim should remain busy in His obedience and worshipping Him.

Wadd and Suwāʿ were the names of the idols that the nation of Prophet Nūḥ عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم worshipped.
